The Third Pan-European Orthodox Liturgical Music Conference

"Liturgical Culture and Church Style"

27-29 January 2022, online

We are happy to announce that despite the ongoing uncertainty in the world caused by the pandemic the Committee is continuing its work and is planning to hold the third Pan-European Orthodox Music Conference online from 27 to 29 January 2022.

Online activities will take place on 27th of January from 3:00 pm to 9:30 pm, 28th of January from 2:00 pm to 9:30 pm and on 29th of January from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Central European Time.

The Conference will feature lectures by renowned international specialists in the field of choral singing and church-musicianship, workshops and group discussions. The focus this time will be on the theme of the beauty of church services, in which singing, reading and liturgical exclamations play a huge role. The problems of the balance between music and words, the style of performing church chants and reading liturgical texts, instilling a sense of church style and liturgical culture among the choir directors, singers and readers will be raised.

The Conference welcomes church choir conductors, singers, readers, and all other interested in Russian Orthodox choral music.

 

Simultaneous translation to English and French will be provided.

Unfortunately, this year the event will have have to be organised online again. From one side it will lack the possibility to conduct the rehearsals and participate at services. However, online participation opens opportunity to attract those who finds it difficult to travel or who has limited time.
